High Tech Sheds: How Automation Is Creating A New Generation Of Logistic Facilities

Automation is a key trend in industrial real estate – speeding up supply chains and moving goods more efficiently to ultimately deliver products to consumers faster than ever before.

Automation takes many forms. It can involve picking automation, removing the repetitive and time-consuming process of taking goods from shelves; barcode labels and scanning automation helps remove paper from the process of goods movement to eliminate errors and speed up documentation; and automated vehicles, such as self-guided forklifts and pallet carts, help move items around quickly and seamlessly.
LOGOS, the Asia Pacific logistics expert, is working with many of its clients to design and deliver partial and fully automated facilities to address this growing trend, with its Heathwood Logistics Estate comprising two state of the art logistic facilities.

Case Study
At LOGOS’ 25 hectare Heathwood Logistics Estate in Queensland, automation is at the heart of its two tenants, Asahi Beverages’ and Hilton Food Group’s facilities. LOGOS worked with both tenants to design and two state of the art facilities, including cutting edge automation technology.

Asahi Beverages
Asahi Beverages, part of Asahi Group Holdings, is one of the leading beverage companies in Australia and New Zealand. Asahi has committed to an initial 20-year lease term at the Heathwood Logistics Estate, with LOGOS developing its 20,000sqm purpose built, high bay warehouse and office facility in 2017.
The facility incorporates state of the art warehousing technology, with satellite multi deep racks with an Automated Storage & Retrieval System (ASRS) and Storage and Retrieval Machines (SRM) operating within racking aisles to carry out, put-away and retrieve pallets from the racking and loading bays. The facility efficiently delivers thousands of beverages to its retail clients, which ultimately improves its service to the end customer.

Hilton Food Group
Hilton Food Group is an international specialist retail meat packing company. The Group committed to an initial 15-year lease term at Heathwood Logistics Estate, with construction of its circa 40,000sqm purpose-built food processing and distribution facility recently completed.
LOGOS worked closely with Hilton to design and construct a facility to meet their needs in line with their national distribution requirements.
This facility employs automation and robotic technology to improve the production and delivery times to retailers, which in turn delivers a fresher product to the end customer.

The Heathwood Logistics Estate is owned by the LOGOS Australia Logistics Venture, a partnership established in late 2014 between LOGOS and its capital partners with a strategy to acquire and develop prime, logistics estates across Australia.
LOGOS is market leading vertically integrated logistics specialists, with operations in Australia, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and New Zealand. For leasing opportunities, contact Grace Zangari.
